Spiritual Leader

Kurt Spellmeyer Kankan Roshi is the founder of Cold Mountain Zen. He serves as the spiritual leader and principal teacher, and as such, determines and directs matters of spiritual practice, liturgy and teaching.

Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of Cold Mountain Zen. The Board of seven to twenty members meets quarterly. Directors shall serve a three-year term, and are eligible for re-election for a second three-year term. The Board receives no compensation for its services.

Cold Mountain Zen, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit established with the mission to provide for the preservation and transmission of the teaching and practice of Rinzai Zen Buddhism in New Jersey.
